MSS provides fully trained Ship Security Detachments ('Shipriders') for vessels transiting areas of high risk.

Based on client requirements and after thorough risk assessments we can provide well-trained security detachments, together with appropriate physical ship defences, acoustic and thermal-imaging equipment.

MSS personnel are chosen from fit and experienced men who have served with Special Forces and elite units within the British Armed Forces. They have undergone a strict vetting process and all have successfully completed an MSS Ship Security Officer course and MSS Anti-Piracy training.

Shipguard Operations Managers are former senior military with many years experience as maritime security consultants. They have worked at government level and in many areas of high-risk.

In special circumstances MSS can supply armed ship detachments where a strong deterrent is required, subject to Flag and Port State approval.

All Shipguard personnel are fully cognisant of NATO and UNCLOS guidelines on rules of engagement, master's discretion and the legal requirements of Port State control.
